Shahrizat’s appointment Najib’s ‘gift to the corrupt’

Posted: 27 Aug 2013 11:09 PM PDT

Malaysiakini

Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's appointment as Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's advisor on women's affairs shows that the latter is 'disinterested' in combating graft, said PKR.

In a statement today, PKR Wanita deputy chief Rodziah Ismail said this is because Shahrizat was appointed despite her alleged involvement in the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) project scandal.

She demanded that the Najib revokes Shahrizat's appointment.

"The appointment for Shahrizat, who is implicated in the NFC scandal is a gift and a reward from Najib to the corrupt," she said.

Shahrizat was reported saying that she had received her appointment as Najib's advisor on Aug 15.

Shahrizat, who was women, family and community development minister at the time, had denied any involvement in the company, however, the scandal prompted her to resign as a federal minister.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), too, last year cleared Shahrizat of involvement in the awarding of the multi-million ringgit NFC contract to her family.

Meanwhile, her husband, National Feedlot Corporation chairperson Mohamad Salleh Ismail is facing two charges of criminal breach of trust and two other charges under the Companies Act 1984 in relation to the NFC scandal and its RM250 million soft loan from the government.

Perbalahan imam sesama Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah

Posted: 28 Aug 2013 07:26 AM PDT

The Real Syria Problem

Posted: 27 Aug 2013 12:50 AM PDT

The National Interest

Some truths about the use of force: one, it is easier to start than to finish; two, public support for military operations wanes quickly; three, force is not a policy; fourth, military operations always have unintended consequences.

A solution to the massive tragedy of the Syrian civil war will not arise from a foreign-policy establishment banging on about the need to "do something." A torrent of predictable comments from predictable sources is propelled by hand wringing about refugees, civilian slaughter, and prolonged brutality, but is very light on specifics.

A recent proposal by a highly respected establishment member seemed to suggest cruise-missile attacks on chemical weapons sites. That surely could not be serious. There are close to a dozen and a half such sites and, once dispersed, the aerated chemicals might have the unintended benefit of crippling the Taliban in Afghanistan, among others, along the way.

For those who did not discover this around 2003 in Iraq, the nature of warfare is changing. All the nuclear aircraft-carrier task groups, long-range bomber wings, and big army divisions, so characteristic of military power in the Cold War, have little to no effect in irregular, unconventional conflict. This is frustrating to members of Congress who found support for these force structures a convenient measure of commitment to national "strength".

We may choose to punish Assad for using chemicals on his own people, though I don't recall that we did so to Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, and it will make us feel better. But it will solve nothing in the long run. Unless we want to kill a great many people, and remain in Syria for much longer than in Iraq or Afghanistan, we cannot determine the outcome of this civil war. In neighboring Lebanon, a similar war raged for almost two decades.

If there are Syrian military targets isolated from urban concentrations, bombs away. But for most of these, including military-command facilities such as ministries of defense, expect heavy civilian casualties—widely reported on the evening news throughout the world. That always has the salutary effect of driving the "do something" experts off the cable talk shows.

Among those not in evidence on the cable shows are former or existing senior military commanders. Senior commanders in uniform are appropriately reluctant to advise the commander-in-chief in public. But their colleagues now in retirement are rarely so reluctant. Yet few, if any, are heard to demand that we "do something." And their silence is often a quality indicator of the thinking of their colleagues in uniform with whom they maintain close ties.

Unlike Senator John McCain, few members of Congress have earned the credentials to demand military action. Yet even he has been notably vague about what realistic options exist. And most self-appointed members of the Military Hawks Caucus will be the first to condemn the commander-in-chief when the "something" they so vaguely urge turns out badly.

The use of force is not a policy; it is a substitute for policy. Faced with few if any policy options, many foreign-policy "experts", even those keen on the Iraq invasion, are among the first to call for military action. Lack of access to intelligence, facts on the ground, or military options never seem a deterrent to opinion from the establishment. In fact, the less intelligence, facts and expert opinions, the stronger are their convictions. It often boils down to the famous quote: "What’s the point of having this superb military…if we can’t use it?"

Criminal conduct must be punished and if we can find a way to punish Assad for his criminal conduct, without further adding to the misery of his citizens, we should do so. But it would be well if the means and timing of punishment were left to those who know what they are doing and what the long-term consequences of "doing something" will be.

Skuad pencegahan jenayah baru polis, bagaimana mereka uruskannya?
August 27, 2013

Kerana nila setitik, rosak susu sebelanga.

PETALING JAYA (Aug 26, 2013): Saravanan Batumalai had the shock of his life hours after ramming his car into a motorcycle used by two snatch thieves last month: they were off-duty policemen.

The first indication that they were men in blue came when he called 999 after the incident at 12.15pm on July 3 and a police patrol car arrived, only to have the policemen confirm that the motorcycle belonged to the Kelana Jaya police station.

When Saravanan went to the police station to make a report, the investigating officer called in two policemen who turned out to be the ones who had tried to snatch the gold necklace of a woman walking along the road outside his workplace in Taman Mayang, Petaling Jaya.

People Of Bangladesh Will Never Tolerate If Bangladesh Awami League Conspires To Regain Power Through Controversial Election Under Ruling Party

Posted: 26 Aug 2013 03:44 AM PDT

People of Bangladesh will never tolerate if Bangladesh Awami League Conspires to regain power through Controversial Election under Ruling Party – Rafiqul Islam Khan

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan strongly condemned and protested the initiative taken by the ruling party Bangladesh Awami League to do the General Election under ruling party after ignoring the demand of mass people which is "Doing the General Election under Caretaker Government". If the Government takes this initiative then this will bring friction, clash and anarchy into the country. Ninety percent people of this country are on behalf of the Caretaker Government system. They will never tolerate if the Government conspires to regain power through a Controversial Election under the Ruling Party.

He said, from 1983 to 1990 and 1993 to 1996 the people of Bangladesh did movement and struggle demanding for doing the General Election under Caretaker Government. In this movement many people sacrificed their life, blood and went to prison. Finally, the movement was succeeded and this Caretaker Government system was included in the Constitution of Bangladesh. By forgetting and betraying their sacrifices and bloods, the Government conspires to come back to the power through a one-sided voter-less pre-planned Election under the ruling party. The people of this country will make their conspiracy unsuccessful "In Shaa Allah".

By making the non-issue as an issue, the government divided the nation in the name of so called trial of "Crime Against Humanity" and lost their popularity after failing to keep all the promises of the people before the Election. That’s why the Government is planning to illegally come to the power again. Mass people doesn’t want to see them in the power any more since they created anarchy and failed to run the Country. The Government is getting afraid for a free and fair Election after their candidate lost very terribly in all the recent five City Corporation Elections. At present, the Government is conspiring to establish One-Party Dictatorship by arresting all Jamaat and other Opposition Leaders, creating anarchy, clash and friction and destroying Democracy and Rule of Laws. He called all the people of Bangladesh to stand against this Conspiracy.

He demanded to release all Jamaat Leaders and shut down the illegal Tribunal. Lastly, he humbly called the Government to resign and reinstate the Caretaker Government system in the Constitution.

답장 HOW ARE YOU

Posted: 26 Aug 2013 12:32 AM PDT

Greetings to you,

I believe you are a highly placed person considering the fact that I got your email from a human resource database of your country. I request you treat what I am about telling you with seriousness and confidentiality. Well, I am Miss. Thitima from Thailand, a banker. I was the account officer to a late customer who was an exporter of rice from Thailand. On the 21st of July 2008, he died in his sleep as a result of heart related illness. Before his death, I helped him deposit the sum of 12.3 million US Dollars as fixed deposit with our bank. The said deposit has long matured and no one has not shown up for the claim. All efforts made to reach any of his relatives have proved unsuccessful and the money deposited will soon be lost to the government if the claim is not made immediately.

All I require now is your honest cooperation to enable me present you as the beneficiary of his deposit in order to claim the money with our bank. It does not matter if you knew him or not or whethera he is related to you or not, you can successfully make the claim as long as you are not here in Thailand. Everything will be made easy by me once you are ready to co-operate with me. The fund shall be shared into two equal parts between the both of us when the claim is made. I guarantee that this will be done under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law both here and in your country. If you can help, write back for me to give you more details.

Thank you.
