Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's appointment as Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's advisor on women's affairs shows that the latter is 'disinterested' in combating graft, said PKR.
In a statement today, PKR Wanita deputy chief Rodziah Ismail said this is because Shahrizat was appointed despite her alleged involvement in the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) project scandal.
She demanded that the Najib revokes Shahrizat's appointment.
"The appointment for Shahrizat, who is implicated in the NFC scandal is a gift and a reward from Najib to the corrupt," she said.
Shahrizat was reported saying that she had received her appointment as Najib's advisor on Aug 15.
Shahrizat, who was women, family and community development minister at the time, had denied any involvement in the company, however, the scandal prompted her to resign as a federal minister.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), too, last year cleared Shahrizat of involvement in the awarding of the multi-million ringgit NFC contract to her family.
Meanwhile, her husband, National Feedlot Corporation chairperson Mohamad Salleh Ismail is facing two charges of criminal breach of trust and two other charges under the Companies Act 1984 in relation to the NFC scandal and its RM250 million soft loan from the government.
