| JPP Also Looking At Post Election Complaints Posted: 28 Sep 2010 09:31 AM PDT Media Statement: The Jawatankuasa Pemilihan Pusat (JPP) has been given the task of supervising the conduct of the internal Keadilan elections at the division and national level. This task includes dealing not just with complaints and objections raised prior to elections at the division level but also post election complaints. The JPP will not hesitate to invalidate results at the division level if we are convinced that the election process was compromised or if there were acts of intimidation or violence that distorted the conduct of the elections. We will also not hesitate to recommend disciplinary action including sacking against party members if we are presented with strong evidence that they had been involved in acts of violence or disrupted the smooth conduct of elections on the ground or engaged in any irregular conduct (e.g. vote-buying). In coming to our decision we will consider reports from members as well as reports from secretariat staff and party volunteers who have conducted the elections under our supervision. We urge any member who has concerns about the conduct of the elections at the division level to raise his/her concerns with the JPP in a formal manner so that these concerns can be given the attention they deserve. Individuals dissatisfied with the conduct of the elections should use this channel rather than making allegations in the media against either the JPP or the Keadilan secretariat. 166 divisions have held their annual meeting and elections over the past two weekends and the JPP is pleased to note that in the vast majority of cases division elections have proceeded in a smooth and orderly fashion. | UMNO Jangan Takutkan Orang Kampung, Kata Dr Asri Posted: 28 Sep 2010 02:07 AM PDT Dari Malaysiakini Bekas mufti Perlis Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin menyeru Umno supaya tidak menakut-nakutkan warga Pulau Pinang dengan dakwaan kerajaan negeri menipu berhubung sumber kewangannya bagi membiayai program membantu golongan miskin termasuk untuk masyarakat Islam. “Sudahlah mereka miskin, kita persalahkan mereka. Saya nak sebut kepada rayat Pulau Pinang tak payah susah hati. (Umno) janganlah nak takutkan orang kampung, jangan kata doa tak makbul atau (fikiran) sudah benak sebab makan dari sumber haram. “Sekiranya semua transaksi bantuan dipersoalkan sumbernya, tidak ada lagi wang yang bukan daripada sumber haram. Setiap duit yang kita terima itu tentulah pernah digunakan untuk kegiatan lain.
“Apa yang jadi pertikaian bukanlah duit contohnya RM50 daripada hasil judi itu, tapi nilainya. Apabila diterima, nilainya adalah sumbangan daripada hasil judi, tapi bila ia disalurkan kepada orang miskin, nilainya adalah bantuan,” katanya. Sebaliknya, Dr Mohd Asri berkata, perkara yang perlu dipertikaikan dalam isu pemberian bantuan orang miskin daripada hasil judi ialah promosi kepada syarikat judi yang menghulurkan sumbangan kepada kerajaan. Katanya, keadaan itu boleh dilihat melalui liputan melalui media yang memperbesar-besarkan sumbangan yang diberikan oleh syarikat judi kepada kerajaan. Cukai satu hukuman “Kita tanggung dosa bila biarkan aktiviti judi atau lakukan tindakan seakan-akan memuliakan judi, sedangkan aktiviti seperti itu sepatutnya direndah-rendahkan. “Promosi seperti itu juga seperti memberi galakan kepada perjudian. Saya pernah tengok (laporan) di majlis penyampaian sumbangan, ada ahli politik yang naik ke pentas terima cek besar daripada syarikat judi ini. “Sepatutnya sumbangan ini diberikan senyap-senyap, tidak mengapa,” katanya ketika dihubungi Malaysiakini hari ini. Tambahnya, cukai yang dikutip daripada syarikat judi sebagai hasil kerajaan juga tidak semestinya menerima nilai judi itu sendiri. “Sedikit sebayak, cukai yang dikenakan ke atas syarikat itu juga adalah satu bentuk hukuman kepada mereka,” katanya lagi. Dr Mohd Asri juga berkata para ulama pula kini masih berbeza pandangan sama ada hasil daripada riba yang diperolehi kerajaan adalah halal atau haram. “Setahu saya tidak ada. Pada masa saya (jadi mufti) tidak pernah ada mesyuarat (Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan) untuk putuskan perkara ini,” katanya lagi ketika ditanya. Nabi terima hadiah Yahudi Tambahnya, pandangan seperti yang dikemukakan ulama terkenal antarabangsa Dr Yusuf al-Qardhawi pula menyebut, hasil daripada riba seperti perjudian itu boleh digunakan untuk membantu orang miskin memandangkan nilai yang diberikan itu atas nama sumbangan. “Bukannya ia diberikan atas nama hasil judi. Contohnya ada kawan hendak belanja kita kerana dia menang judi, tidak boleh kerana itu meraikan judi. “Tapi kalau orang bukan Islam sekalipun belanja kita makan dan beri kita ang pau, tidak mengapa kerana dia hendak belanja,” tambahnya. Katanya lagi, Nabi Muhammad sendiri pernah menerima hadiah daripada orang Yahudi dan juga daripada pemerintah Rom. “Buktinya, memang tidak salah jika hendak mengambil apa yang hak kita. Nabi mengambil hadiah daripada orang Yahudi walaupun nabi tahu orang Yahudi menjalankan kegiatan (ekonomi) riba dan pemerintah Rom terlibat dengan kezaliman,” katanya. Jelasnya, baginda tidak menerima nilai riba atau kezaliman tersebut tetapi nilai sumbangan berkenaan. |

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 01:48 AM PDT Media statement by Dr Chen Man Hin, DAP life advisor on 28th sept 2010 suddenly there appears to be a deluge of international personalities criticising the malaysian government for persecuting anwar on trumped up charge of sodomy 2 it started with ex US vice president Gore, and IMF chief Stiglitz, followed by Barry Wain former awsj correspondent as well as a former US ambassador to malaysia John Croft all of them unanaimously condemned the conspiracy to paint Anwar as a sodomist and therefore not fit to be the Opposition Leader. these are all distinguished members of the international community who are shocked in unison by this serious transgression of justice, democracy and the rule of law by the malaysian government. UMNO, the power behind the prime minister, intends to perpetuate their power by trying anwar on trumped up charges of sodomy, to convict and imprison him, thus denying him the opportunity to be the next prime minister. today, there is another powerful international figure in the person of Richard Branson who has joined the international posse of activists out to demand justice for Anwar’ Branson warned Najib that the trial of anwar on sodomy charges has damaged the image of malaysia and undermined the confidence of investors to invest in malaysia. The DAP had always been in the forefront to criticise the conspriacy to charge Anwar for sodomy and to find him guilty. we have warned that the international community will not idly stand by and watch an innocent person tried .. on trumped up charges and be put to jail PM Najib should think carefully and heed international opinion. if he does not then FDIs (foreign direct investments} which fell by 81% in 2009 will fall further and there will be zero investments, which would mean the beginning of the end for the New Economic Model as well as 1 Malaysia.
