MB N.Sembilan utamakan keretapi dpd rakyat ?

Posted: 18 Aug 2010 05:28 PM PDT

Kenapa sibuk nak tarik pelancong, tapi banyak kemudahan awam di PD begitu teruk , terutama gerai , tandas awam , bangunan terbengkalai seperti laporan berikut :

MB N.Sembilan bazir duit bina Pondok Bas ?

Negri seeks federal help to revive rail link

SEREMBAN: The state government wants the federal authorities to rehabilitate the 39km Seremban-Port Dickson railway line — the third to be built in the country — because it has been out of use for more than two years.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the state government wants to revive the 120-year-old line to boost tourism in Port Dickson.

"We had plans to start a tourist train linking both towns three years ago but this had to be shelved as the tracks were deemed as unsafe.

"We hope the federal authorities will not abandon the idea to revive the line," he said.

The Seremban-Port Dickson line has been closed since July 2008 when a freight train transporting diesel from a refinery in Port Dickson to Ipoh was derailed.

Prior to that, the line was used exclusively by two refineries in Port Dickson to transport their products to other parts of the country.

Passenger train services between Seremban and Port Dickson stopped in the mid-1970s.

The opening of the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway in 1997 also allowed companies here to transport their products faster via road.

KTM Bhd has been reluctant to repair the tracks due to the high cost involved and as it was not a profitable venture.

Mohamad said although the project to rehabilitate the line was not listed under the 10th Malaysia Plan, he expressed hope that this would be considered.

Mohamad also said KTMB's Electric Train Service, which now allows the people to travel between Seremban and Ipoh in three hours, would eventually be extended to Gemas.

He said the service should begin by end 2012 when the Seremban-Gemas double-tracking and electrification project is completed.

Several new stations are being built and upgraded along the route, including Sg Gadut, Senawang, Rembau and Tampin.
