When Malaysians should ignore Dr Mahathir’s thoughts on Kajang

TMI

It is a free country. Correction. It is a relatively free country. As such, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) is free to articulate his views on anything, the weather in the North Pole to the quality of leadership in the country.

But Malaysians are free to disagree and reject whatever escapes from his lips these days.

Even a show of disdain would not be out of place for this political chameleon, who, day by day, shows a convenient ability to forget that many of the country’s ills were sowed and took root during his time.

When he laments about the self-serving nature of Umno politicians and the money-grabbing culture of politics today, Dr Mahathir hopes that we forget about the obscene wealth amassed by his ministers and members of his inner circle.

When he talks about how Christians are being unreasonable by insisting on using the word "Allah", Dr Mahathir hopes that we forget that his government in the late 1980s allowed the prohibition on the use of the word by Christians be held in abeyance.

When he complaints about rising racial and religious tension, Dr Mahathir hopes that we forget that he is the patron of Perkasa, the right-wing group that has only one brief: to divide this country.

Now, the former prime minister is giving Malaysians his two cents' worth on the Kajang by-election.

He is entitled to poke fun at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and call him whatever he wants. But the minute he talks rubbish, he should be called out.

Today, he urged the voters of Kajang to give MCA a chance. Why?

Because according to him the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party is trying to make a comeback after its dismal performance. Really?

One can only guess with his elastic sense of right and wrong, bartering for positions between Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai is evidence of a party on a comeback trail.

Can you imagine how selfish and self-absorbed these two MCA leaders are that they are carving out largesse for themselves even after their party was rejected by the community for being self-serving?

Liow is listless while Dr Chua… well, the less said about Dr Chua, the better.

But here is Dr Mahathir, hoping that Malaysians will give these self-serving individuals another chance.

But nothing should surprise Malaysians about Dr Mahathir. He will always speak his mind and offer unsolicited advice.

As a general rule, Malaysians should do the opposite of what he wants. After all, the man has an elastic view of what is right and wrong.

Acting Ameer rejects the verdict of death sentence against Maulana Nizami, calls the people to protest against government's conspiracy to destroy patriotic leadership

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has issued a statement on 30th January, 2014 rejecting the death sentence that has been given in a false and concocted case against Jamaat Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami in a bid to murder this veteran politician and the top leader of the Islamic movement in a pre-planned way. His full statement is as follows:

"The government had filed a false and baseless case earlier against Jamaat Ameer and former minister of the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami just to attain its ill political interest. This case is nothing but a conspiracy of the government to make the country leaderless by killing the patriotic leadership of the nation.

The countrymen is well informed of the fact, the police had captured 10 trucks arms in Chittagong on 1st April of 2004. On that very night, the officer-in-charge of the Kornofuli police station filed two cases in line with the incident. The name of Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami was not included in the 'First Investigation Report' (FIR) of the case. The first charge sheet of the case had been submitted on 11th June of 2004. That charge sheet has been prepared excluding Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami as well. The trial of the case began from 6th July of 2005 and continued till 14th August of 2007. Till that moment, 59 witnesses had placed their testimony in two different cases in connection with the incident. On 20th December of 2007, the prosecution applied for further investigation into the case. According to the directives and blue print design of the government and to secure the vicious political interest, the charge sheet was submitted for second time implicating Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. On the basis of this fabricated charge sheet, the government arranged a farce in the name of trial.

As per the government's instruction, an unprecedented verdict has been declared today awarding all the detained accused with death penalty in connection with the so called smuggling and arms haul cases. We are shocked, surprised and disappointed with the verdict. Maulana Nizami has been deprived from justice. We will face the government sponsored conspiracy both legally and politically. Since the commencement, this trial has advanced questionably and without any transparency. The defence lawyers were not allowed to examine the witnesses properly. Since the beginning of the trial process, we had apprehended of becoming deprived from getting justice. Finally our apprehension has turned into reality. The government has arranged a farcical trial according to its blue print design in order to destroy the judiciary of the country and today's verdict is another step to meet that malicious target of the government. The countrymen have rejected this government instructed verdict by all means.

I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the ongoing conspiracy, plot and blue print design of the government to annihilate the patriotic leadership of the country.

LANGKAH KAJANG DULU SEBELUM KE PUTRAJAYA ~ RAFIZI RAMLI

Posted: 31 Jan 2014 01:46 AM PST
